His artistic talent and dedication to his work helped him overcome adversity and completely devote himself to what became his purpose in life.
His unique artistic expression is defined by the quality of his forms, as he searched for the essence of the form and the absence of details while empowering a feeling of monumentality to his work.
The oeuvre can be defined as “Universal” in the sense that his art is permanent and transcends the moment and as thus becomes eternal and can be understood by successive generations.
Professor Dr. George Schwab described Carbonell as: “Aside from his well-trained mind and hands, one can detect in his creations the works of the great sculptors of the past and present”.
MONUMENTAL SCULPTURES
Carbonell……“if my sculptures are photographed against the infinite sky, then you feel that they were created to be made on a monumental scale, because monumentality gives me the sensation of eternity which I chase after in my life”…..
It must be emphasized that monumentality is not and can never be excessive. Rendering something beyond its real dimensions do not glorify it nor place it in the category of exceptional. In fact, such volumetric scale alone, can weaken the meaning and essence of that which seeks to glorify.

A COLLECTION OF MID-SIZE MONUMENTAL SCULPTURES:
As much as one can have a desire to obtain a tremendous awe-inspiring monumental sculpture, actual size may have its limitations. An alternative is the creation of a substantially less voluminous sculptures by transitioning into a mid-size that is more conforming to spatial limitations.
Through the creation of photoshops a visual realization can be provided to demonstrate that these sculptures in fact, may unveil a feeling of monumentality, while maintaining their impressive artistic quality without over stating the limits of their boundaries.
